Nepal gears up to welcome world leaders to SAARC summit

Kathmandu, Nov 25 (ANI): Nepal's capital Kathmandu is getting ready to host the 18th summit of leaders from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Foreign Secretaries of India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Maldives are setting the agenda for the summit due to be held on November 26 and 27.The preparations for summit are in full swing in Nepal as the authorities have heightened the security for the two-day event where leaders from eight nations will meet and discuss the core issues of importance. As last stage preparations are being carried out, even artisans are busy giving final touches to earthen pots that will adorn the venue to welcome leaders at the meet. Nepal has two limousines and has rented six bullet-proof cars from India for the visiting leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Nepal on 25th in the afternoon and return late in the evening of 27th November. Meanwhile, a resident of Kathmandu, Vishnu Harikaki said it is a moment of pride for the people of Nepal as the summit would take place in their nation for the first time. Nov 25, 2014

Police bomb disposal squad defuses bomb found from train

Kamrup, Nov 25 (ANI): A powerful bomb, weighing more than seven kg, was recovered from a train compartment in Assam's Kamrup (Rural) district on Monday, police said. Security personnel on duty in Up Lumding-Kamakhya Intercity Express spotted a plastic bag covered with a towel and wires sticking out in front of the compartment toilet near Kendukona Railway station under Rangiya sub-division. They immediately informed Kendukona station master and the train was halted there. The passengers were asked to disembark for checking the train thoroughly and senior police, civil and railway officials along with a dog squad of the Assam Police rushed to the spot and removed the bomb. Siliguri, Nov 22 (ANI): A fire broke out on Saturday in a special train carrying police officers deployed on election duty in Jammu and Kashmir while it was travelling near Siliguri. No casualties have been reported till now, said the police. The train was carrying police officers on election duty to Jammu and Kashmir. The fire that suddenly broke in one of the general compartments was brought under control with the help of two fire engines. Railway officers rushed to the spot to investigate the cause of the fire.
