Railways cancel 16 trains due to fog in Uttar Pradesh

Gorakhpur, Dec 04 (ANI): The railway authorities cancelled at least 16 trains as dense fog descends upon Uttar Pradesh. Heavy fog and haze covered Gorakhpur city of Uttar Pradesh, leading to delay and cancellation of trains passing through the area. Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO) of northeastern Railways, Alok Kumar Singh, said on Thursday (December 04) that drivers are given precautionary orders not to exceed the speed of trains to avoid any mishap amid low visibility. Besides, certain trains have been rescheduled and their destinations and routes changed to avoid congestion, Singh said. Passengers are facing undue inconvenience. Dec 4, 2014

Five children killed, more than 20 injured as school van collapses with train in UP

Mau, Dec 04 (ANI): Five children were killed and more than 20 are reported to be injured after a school van collapsed with a passenger train in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh. The accident took place at an unmanned railway crossing on Thursday morning. The injured children were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital and are being treated. Indian fishermen released by Pakistan return home

Rajkot, Dec 3 (ANI): 35 fishermen, who were released by Pakistan three days ago, expressed happiness after they returned home in India. The fishermen had been arrested for illegal fishing in Pakistani waters. One prisoner was arrested for illegally crossing the border. These fishermen were natives form Saurashtra region of Gujarat. One of the organisation working in Pakistan gave all 35 fishermen Pakistan currency worth 10000 rupees (161.600 USD) and a kit which includes a saree, shirt and other household items. Meanwhile, assistant director of fisheries, KP Tandon, said that all the fishermen were looked after well.
