Case registered against Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda's son, politicos demand thorough probe

New Delhi, Aug 28 (ANI): A Bangalore based model has filed a case against Karthik Gowda, son of Union Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda, under section 420, 376 and 406 (charges relating to cheating and dishonesty) of the Indian Penal Code. The model claims that she got married to Karthik Gowda on June 5, 2014 after meeting him on May 8, 2014. The model also said that she wanted his family to accept her as their daughter-in-law. Gowda, however, refuted the allegations saying that since the news came right after his son Karthik Gowda’s engagement, it raises suspicion. Meanwhile, political leaders said that a thorough investigation should be done in the case. Aug 28, 2014

Kannada actress claims to be wife of Railway Minister Gowda's son, asks family to accept her

Bangalore, Aug 28 (ANI): A Kannada actress has claimed that she is married to Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda's son Karthik and demanded that the Minister's family accept her as their daughter-in-law. Talking to mediapersons in Bangalore, the woman named Maithreya said that she met Karthik while her family was looking for a groom and on 05 June 2014 they both tied the knot. Maithreya further claimed that they both knew each other since 8 May 2014 and became very good friends, following which Karthik married her. Meanwhile, a case of rape was registered against Karthik. The case has been booked against Karthik under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code. Aug 28, 2014

BJP terms SC's verdict on appointment of tainted ministers a wise decision

New Delhi/ Bangalore, Aug 27 (ANI): The BJP on Wednesday said that the Supreme Court was wise in not laying down the law on disqualification of ministers. The party also said that Prime Minster Narendra Modi has already talked about this. The court was hearing a plea on whether ministers with criminal cases against them can continue to be a part of the government. A five bench judge headed by Chief Justice of India R. M. Lodha delivered the verdict saying that it was the prerogative of the prime minister and chief ministers to do so.
