She added that after PM Narendra Modi_s statement about Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti_s language so they should not raise the issue continuously to create chaos. Arun Jaitley calls for regional cooperation to fight customs violations

New Delhi, Dec 04 (ANI): Inaugurating the 2nd Regional Customs Enforcement Meeting in New Delhi, Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, on Thursday (December 04) called for greater international and regional cooperation to deal with customs violations. The heads of customs enforcement agencies of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar and Sri Lanka will attend the two- day DRI Day celebrations followed by a meeting where a new proposal for intelligence sharing is likely to be adopted. TMC protests against hike in fuel excise duty

New Delhi, Dec 3 (ANI): Leaders of Trinamool Congress (TMC) party, on Wednesday (December 03), staged a protest outside parliament against a hike in excise duty of petrol and diesel. India on Tuesday (December 02) raised excise duties on petrol by 2.25 rupees per litre and on diesel by one rupee per litre with immediate effect, the finance ministry said in a statement to parliament. The increases, which follow similar hikes in mid-November, seek to take advantage of a slump in world oil prices to shore up government revenues without stoking inflation. A source familiar with the matter said the latest measures were expected to raise an additional 40 billion rupees in the remainder of the fiscal year to the end of March 2015. New Delhi, Dec 03 (ANI): Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday said that the government hiked excise duty on petrol and diesel for the second time in three weeks to shore up revenue to meet budget deficit without burdening the consumer. The government had on Tuesday raised excise duty on petrol by Rs.2.25 per litre and by Rs.1 a litre on diesel but retail pump rates will not be increased as oil firms decided to absorb the duty change for the time being. Indian orange traders complain of losses due to heavy excise duty by Bangladesh

Siliguri, Dec 03 (ANI): Orange traders in West Bengal complained of huge losses due to heavy excise duty imposed by Bangladesh government. Traders say that the export is very poor this time as the custom duty of rupees 40 ($0.64) on every kg is charged by Bangladesh Customs. Meanwhile, traders complain that Bhutan does not pay any duty to Bangladesh and hence the latter is purchasing oranges from Bhutan. Indian oranges are highly in demand because of its taste and quality and that is why it is exported in large quantities every year. Around 60 percent to 70 percent of oranges are exported from India to Bangladesh but due to heavy duty this time, the traders are facing a lot of problems. Dec 3, 2014
