One of two constables accused of raping girl in Badaun arrested

Bareily, Jan 06 (ANI): One of the two absconding constables accused of raping a minor girl at a police station in Badaun, has been arrested. The second constable accused of the crime is still absconding. The Uttar Pradesh's Special Task Force has been roped in to hunt down the accused. Constable Avanish Yadav was arrested when he was about to board a train for Delhi from Bareilly junction late Monday night. The horrific incident took place on New Year's eve when the 14-year-old girl had stepped out of her house to relieve herself. The girl's mother had alleged that she was abducted by constables Veer Pal Singh Yadav and Avanish Yadav. However, the accused constable denied all charges and demanded probe. Superintendent of Police, Bareily, Rajiv Mehrotra applauded the development in the case and said that the second accused will soon be nabbed. New Delhi/Kanpur, Jan 5 (ANI): As cold wave continues to lash northern India, train traffic remained disrupted in the region on Monday due to thick blanket of fog. As night temperature plunged further at several places in the region, people who work outdoors were seen seeking warmth from bonfires and hot tea from roadside stalls. In the national capital, New Delhi, passengers at the railway stations complained of long delays in the scheduled timings of trains. Dense fog affected the train traffic in northern Kanpur city as well, where light rains added to the woes of the passengers. Mumbai, Jan 02 (ANI): Services of local trains in Mumbai were affected on Friday after an overhead cable wire fell down on the tracks. According to reports, the incident happened on the local central line. A local train broke down at the Thakurli station, near Kalyan, in Thane district. There were also reports of stone pelting and torching of vehicles by disgruntled commuters in and around the Diva Station. Police had to resort to a mild baton charge to discharge agitating crowds that had gathered in the station's vicinity to protest over the delay in the plying of trains.
