Nagpur, June 20 (ANI): Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj would do all in their capacity to secure the release of Indians abducted in Iraq. Earlier, media reports had said that Sonia Gandhi had written a letter to Prime Minister Modi expressing concern over the abduction of 40 Indians in strife-torn Iraq, and had urged him to intensify diplomatic efforts to ensure their safety and secure their early release. Obama deploys 300 military advisors to help Iraq repel ISIL insurgents

New Delhi, June 20(ANI): US President Barack Obama has decided to send 300 additional U.S. Special Operations troops to assist in Iraq's fight against advancing ISIS militants. Obama said that he is sending up to 300 US military advisers to Iraq, but made clear that he will continue to hold back more substantive support till its deemed necessary. He further said that the troops are being deployed to better assess the situation on the ground, where forces of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria have moved ever nearer to Baghdad. He added that the US will be prepared to take "targeted and precise military action" if and when the situation on the ground requires it. About 10,000 Indian nationals work in Iraq, mostly in areas unaffected by the fighting between the Islamic State of Iraq and the ISIL and the national army. About 100 Indian workers are trapped in areas overrun by ISIL. Syed Munir, who returned from Iraq, said by and large Indians were being treated well there.
