Major ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops kills two civilians

Jammu, Aug 23 (ANI): At least two civilians have been killed and many others injured in one of most intense firing along the International Border so far. Continuing to violate the ceasefire agreement, the Pakistani troops targeted 22 Border Security Force posts and several villages in the Arnia and RS Pura sectors using long range mortar shells and heavy to medium machine guns. One jawan has also been injured in the most intense firing on the border so far, that is reportedly still on. All the injured people have been shifted to the Jammu Medical College for treatment. Rajnath Singh takes aerial survey of flood affected areas in UP

Uttar Pradesh, Aug 22 (ANI): Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday took an aerial survey of the flood affected areas in Uttar Pradesh. Singh said that some areas have been deeply affected by the floods and rescue operations are going on, though in a non-satisfactory manner. He also said that an investigation team will be sent by him to the areas to inspect the condition. Floods disrupt livelihood in India

Supaul/ Siddharthnagar, Aug 20 (ANI): Floods in northern and eastern parts of India submerged huts and marooned villagers. Supaul district of Bihar remained on high alert and people were still sheltering in relief camps. About 30,000 villagers were evacuated in Bihar after threat of floods due to a landslide in neighbouring Nepal. The landslide, triggered by heavy rains in Nepal's Sindhupalchowk district, killed at least 33 people and created a mud dam blocking the Sunkoshi river, which flows into India as the Kosi river. A flood-affected villager, Kamla Devi, on Wednesday complained that the government did not provide them with any assistance. People were also affected after water was discharged from overflowing dams in Nepal.
