Srinagar, Sep 07 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took aerial survey of the flood situation in Jammu and Kashmir and released Rs. 1000 crores of relief assistance to the state government. Modi said that the disaster is not alone of the state but of the whole nation. He said that such situation has not occurred in the JandK since past 50 years and that the central government is assisting the state in all aspects possible. The prime minister also announced compensation worth 2 lakh to families of deceased and 50,000 to injured. Meanwhile, Modi also said that Pakistan occupied Kashmir is also reeling under such situations of flood and assured that India will provide all possible help to Pakistan too. Sep 7, 2014

Jammu, Sep 07 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday gave a review of flood situation in the state. Abdullah said that situation is getting better in Jammu and water level has started to fall down. He said that the government is focusing upon relief work followed by rehabilitation of the rescued people. He then said that situation is worsening in areas of Kashmir where water level has risen up to the level of first floors. He said that Central Government has helped the State with boats for recue and officers have been deployed to assess the situation and focus on the medical facilities is being laid. Srinagar, Sep 06 (ANI): Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday arrived in Srinagar city of Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of the situation in the flood affected region. Singh couldn't take the aerial survey due to bad weather conditions but state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah drove him in his car to show the damage. Singh assured that the central government will help the state in all possible manners and that it provide all relief whatsoever. Singh also announced compensation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 Lakh for kin of people who died due to the flood and Rs 50,000 for injured. PM Modi to give Teachers' Day speech, mixed reactions flow

New Delhi, Sep 05 (ANI): As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is ready to address the students on Teachers' Day, mixed reactions came up from different party leaders. BJP leaders Sambit Patra and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi applauded the PM for this step saying that this is a pro-active step and that the Prime Minister feels that teachers form the backbone of the country. Naqvi commenting on the opposition parties criticizing this step said that it is a relief that they are only criticizing the step and not saying that this was their original idea and BJP has stolen it from them. Congress leader Manish Tewari condemning Modi's step appealed to the parents that they should challenge the circulars stating about Modi's speech to be telecasted in the school in the court and that such a step is legally incorrect. Omar Abdullah promises to compensate families affected due to cross-border shelling

Jammu, Sept 03 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met the families affected by Pakistan's ceasefire violations along the international border and promised to amend the existing compensation SRO policy. He expressed regret over the fact that solely militancy affected families get relief funds, and not the ones which also suffer due to cross-border shelling. Abdullah added whoever has borne heavy losses due to damage to their crops because of exchange of fire will also be compensated with free ration for three months. Meanwhile, Abdullah also inaugurated a multi-level parking lot in Jammu. Mumbai/ Delhi, Aug 31 (ANI): People in Mumbai and Delhi have welcomed the slashing of petrol prices by Rs 1.82 per liter saying that the move has provided some much needed relief to the common people. Petrol prices were slashed by Rs 1.82 per litre starting Saturday midnight whereas the price of diesel has gone up by 50 paise. This came as Delhi witnessed the hottest day in the month of August after twelve years on Monday. Yadav explained the cause of the heat wave.
