Haryana Assembly passes bill for separate SGPC

Chandigarh, July 12 (ANI): Haryana government passed a bill in state assembly to create an independent committee to monitor Sikh temples, or gurdwaras, in the state. Haryana Chief Minsiter, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, said the decision to create a separate Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for Haryana was accepted by the ruling Congress party in the state and was introduced in the assembly. The bill, was opposed by main opposition, INLD and the BJP. INLD members claimed the Congress was eyeing Sikh votes as Haryana goes to poll in October. Jul 12, 2014

AP Reorganization Bill passed in LS

New Delhi, July 11 (ANI): The Lok Sabha on Friday passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization (Amendment) Bill 2014 amid protests from members of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and others. Home Minister Rajnath Singh introduced the Bill with its component on the Polavaram project amidst uproar. Despite protests by opposition members, the bill was adopted and passed. Reactions come in as BJP issues whip to its MPs to support TRAI Bill in LS

New Delhi, July 11 (ANI): The TRAI Amendment Act to be presented in Lok Sabha has invited political reactions. After reports of Congress opposing the bill in Parliament, BJP had issued a whip to all its MPs to be present when the government will present the bill. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the bill is being presented on the basis of merit and hoped that it would be passed in both houses. BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that it was an amendment which needed to be modified every six months and added that the government needed to change laws.
