Karnataka train derailment: PM Modi condoles loss of lives

New Delhi, Feb 13 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday condoled the loss of lives due to the derailing of the Bangalore-Ernakulam Inter City Express near Anekal in Karnataka this morning. "Saddened by the loss of lives due to derailing of Bangalore-Ernakulam Express. Condolences to the families of the deceased," Prime Minister said. "I wish the injured a speedy recovery. Railway Minister and officials are closely monitoring the situation and ensuring timely relief", ", the Prime Minister further said. The Indian Railways confirmed earlier in the day that ten persons had lost their lives and over 17 others were critically injured in the incident. Bengaluru, Feb 13 (ANI): Five passengers are feared dead and many have been injured after nine compartments of the Bangalore-Ernakulam Intercity Express derailed near Bengaluru on Friday morning. The accident took place at the border between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka at around 7.45 am near Hosur town, around 45 kilometers from Bengaluru. However, there is no official confirmation on casualties yet. Railway officials are coordinating for rescue operations as ambulances from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have been rushed to the spot.
