Home Minister's brief on preparation to handle upcoming Cyclone Phailin - Part -1

New Delhi, Oct 12 (ANI): Briefing on the India's largest evacuation process in 23 years ahead of the closing Phailin Cyclone on Saturday, Home Affairs Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said that nearly 5 lakh people have been evacuated from the state to be affected. Shinde also said that the Ministry is holding meetings of all concerned departments in the concerned states and briefed about all the evacuation process being undertaken so far to counter a great disaster going to hit India. Bhubaneshwar, Oct 11 (ANI): As Cyclonic storm 'Phailin', which is classified as very severe by the weather department, is expected to hit coastal Odisha and Andhra Pradesh at around 5:30 p.m. tomorrow, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that the state is fully prepared to counter the cyclone. The Odisha and Andhra Pradesh Governments have taken all preventive measures to counter the expected cyclone, a warning for which has already been issued by the meteorological department in both states. Muzaffarnagar riots: Allahabad HC notice to Azam Khan

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): The Allahabad High Court has issued a notice to senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan for allegedly pressing for the release of seven members from the Muslim community named in the murder of two Jats, which triggered the communal backlash in Mazaffarnagar last month claiming at least 48 lives. The court asked Azam Khan to file his counter affidavit within ten days from the receipt of notice. According to reports, the Allahabad High Court also stayed the suspension of an SHO of a police station in Muzaffarnagar where these seven accused were held by the police. The court noted that the allegations leveled against Khan were "serious" and "the chain of incidents show that the matter requires consideration to see the circumstances and to find out whether the same was "in accordance with law" and not "vitiated".
