New Delhi/ Lucknow, Dec 4 (ANI): Politicos on Sunday criticized Uttar Pradesh Women and Child Welfare Minister Aruna Kori for putting onus on the society to check crimes like rape. Leaders of rival parties said that the onus lies on those who are in power to help bring transformation in the society by enacting strict rules. The Uttar Pradesh Minister had earlier on Sunday tried to absolve the government's responsibility over crimes like rape, saying it is the society and not the government that is responsible for such crimes. Lucknow, Jan 03 (ANI): In the much shocking state of affairs in Meerut gangrape case, the panchayat has offered Rupees 40,000 to the survivor to keep silent. The 19-year old victim's family alleged that the Walidpur village panchayat has offered them Rs 40,000 to suppress the matter. Meanwhile, a week after the girl was allegedly raped by four youths; police remained clueless about the whereabouts of the accused. Even as the youths remained at large, the girl's relatives alleged that they were subjected to tremendous pressure from the panchayat to remain silent about the incident. Japanese tourist alleges gang rape in Bihar

Kolkata, Jan 03 (ANI): Police arrested five people after a Japanese tourist alleged gang rape in Bihar state. The police in Kolkata city of West Bengal busted a racket of miscreants, who duped Japanese tourists. Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Pallab Kanti Ghosh, said guides won confidence of Japanese tourists and some of them married Japanese girls also, with a motive to dupe them. Two of the guides then lured a Japanese woman tourist and took her to Digha and gang-raped her and looted her of rupees 25, 000. Then they took her to Gaya city in Bihar, where three more men joined them and again gang raped the Japanese tourist. Minor girl allegedly gang raped by two policemen in Badaun

New Delhi, Jan 02 (ANI): Two policemen were suspended for allegedly gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. According to the reports, the girl's family had alleged that the two constables saw her when she left her house to use toilet and dragged her to a car and raped her. The police have started an investigation and are looking for the men, who are missing. Meanwhile, DCW Chairperson Barkha Shukla said that the condition of women is bad in Uttar Pradesh. Samba, Jan 1 (ANI): Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire again by resorting to overnight firing on 15 border outposts in the Samba Sector of Jammu and Kashmir, leaving one civilian injured on Thursday. The firing is believed to have started around midnight. The latest ceasefire violation comes after Islamabad reportedly summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner to that country last evening to register its protest over the alleged killing of four Pakistani Rangers by the Border Security Force (BSF) in the border areas of the Samba Sector in Jammu and Kashmir. The gang rape victim whose assault in New Delhi triggered nationwide protests died of her injuries on December 29, 2012 in a Singapore hospital. The 23-year-old medical student, severely beaten, raped and thrown out of a moving bus in New Delhi on December 16, 2012, was flown to Singapore in a critical condition by the Indian government for specialist treatment. On Monday, people poured in streets to pay tribute to the victim, who is often referred as 'Nirbhaya'-meaning fearless.
