New Motor Vehicle Bill to be discussed in next parliament session: Gadkari

New Delhi, Sep 01 (ANI): Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways would initiate discussion on new Motor Vehicle Bill in the next session of the parliament. While addressing a gathering of mediapersons in New Delhi, Gadkari stressed upon the need to study the transport laws in developed countries and incorporate essential elements in the new Bill. Highlighting the fact that 64 percent of road accidents take place on state and national highways, Gadkari added it is the primary responsibility of the government to set up research think tanks and also rope in polytechnic institutes to prepare detailed project reports in order to study big and small problems in detail and address all of them to work out a solution. BJP exploring dubious means to form government in Delhi: AAP

New Delhi, Aug 29 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday (August 29) alleged that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was exploring dubious means to form government in Delhi. AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said that the BJP was trying to poach members of legislative assembly (MLA) to shore up its strength in 70-member house. He added that BJP could misuse Lieutenant Governor Najib Jung office to achieve its objective. Delhi has been under President's rule since February when AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of chief minister after his 49-day-old government failed to table its Jan Lokpal Bill in the state assembly. SC refuses to entertain 'premature' petitions against judicial appointment Bill

New Delhi, Aug 25 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain petitions challenging the 121st constitutional amendment by which collegium system for appointment of judges in higher judiciary was scrapped and a new mechanism under National Judicial Appointment Commission (NJAC) was proposed to be put in place.
