Badaun case: CBI files closure report

Badaun, Dec 11 (ANI): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday submitted the closure report in the death case of two teenaged girls who were found hanging from a mango tree in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. According the reports, CBI in its report has concluded that they had committed suicide after the elder one's affair with local boy got busted. Meanwhile, the court gave the victims' family time till January 6 to register their objection over the closure report. Dec 11, 2014

Politicos on government removing section 309 from IPC

New Delhi, Dec 10 (ANI): The Home Ministry on Wednesday informed Parliament that the government has decided to delete section 309 of the Indian Penal Code which criminalises attempt to suicide. The Centre also said that 18 states and four union territories have supported deleting Sec 309. The move was recommended by the Law Commission along with amendment of certain other sections of the CrPC and IPC in consultation with all stake holders. Many politicos backed the decision. AIIMS student hangs herself in hostel room

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): A 20-year-old student AIIMS student committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her hostel room at the institute. According to the reports, the girl was depressed over her relations with the hostel superintendent and other staff at the AIIMS. Victim's friend and family alleged that the warden and the class teacher used to torture her because of which she committed suicide. Students staged protest outside the director's bungalow on Monday morning. Police is investigating the case and postmortem report of the dead body is awaited. Dec 8, 2014

Experts say militants attacking to disrupt polls in Kashmir

New Delhi/Bhopal, Dec 5 (ANI): Security and Defence experts, on Friday (December 05), said militants were carrying out frequent attacks in Jammu and Kashmir to disrupt assembly polls in the region. Five members of the security forces were killed in a suicide attack on an army artillery camp in Kashmir early on Friday as militants stepped up violence in the disputed region near the border with Pakistan, officials said. Qamar Agha said Pakistan was desperate to promote Islamic militancy in the state.
