Kochi, July 23 (ANI): Seventeen more Indian nurses, who were stranded in Iraq, arrived in Kerala. The first flight of Jet Airways carried seven nurses and the second Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi carried 10 nurses. Most of them had to leave their respective jobs due to tense situation in Iraq. Body of Indian worker arrives from Sharjah

Amritsar, July 18 (ANI): Body of an Indian worker, Shemshar Singh, who died while returning home from war-torn Iraq, has arrived in Punjab. Shemshar, 24, who belonged to Gurdaspur district of the state, was returning back from Iraq with 11 other colleagues on June 22, when he fell seriously ill and was admitted to Sharjah hospital in Dubai. Succha Singh, father of Shemshar, slammed the government for not taking adequate steps for early return of his son. The news came as a shock to the family members of Shemshar, who went to Iraq four months back, to earn money as they belong from a poor background. Shemshar___s father also urged the government to send teams to bring rest of the stranded workers back. About 10,000 Indians work in Iraq, mostly in areas unaffected by the fighting, but scores of them have returned to India since ISIL began its offensive. Gurdaspur, July 17 (ANI): Families in Gurdaspur district of Punjab are worried as they await the safe return of their children from strife-torn Iraq. About 10,000 Indians work in Iraq, mostly in areas unaffected by the fighting, but scores of them have returned to India since ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) began its offensive. Harjeet Masih, one among the forty abducted workers, had fled to Iraq 11 months back to earn money for his family. Unfortunately, he was abducted by the Iraq militants on June 12. According to his brother, Robin Masih, his brother managed to escape the kidnappers but his whereabouts are not known for the past one month. Jul 17, 2014
