Meghalaya, Nov 23 (ANI): Last tributes were paid to three personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) killed by suspected cadres of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA), along the Indo-Bangladesh border in southwest Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya, on 8th November. The incident is the third major attack reported in the region in which over 14 people have been killed by outlawed GNLA. The attacks are believed to have been in retaliation to the counter insurgency operations launched by the police against the outfit. On 3rd November, a group of heavily armed militants of GNLA fired indiscriminately at people in the remote Gendabari village in Assam’s Goalpara district. Nov 23, 2013

Palamu, Nov 20 (ANI): The Jharkhand police have arrested Maoist leader Nirmal Bhuyan alias Mahesh, who was on the wanted list for his involvement in a number of crimes and recovered arms in Palamu district of Jharkhand. The police said they have also seized a gun and some bullets from the arrested rebel. Maoist rebels in India are rapidly expanding their insurgency and could move from remote rural areas to cities. BSF on alert with threat of infiltration at Bangladesh border

Siliguri, Nov 19 (ANI): Troops of India's paramilitary, Border Security Force (BSF) were put on high alert at the Bangladesh border with intelligence agencies predicting an increase in infiltration due to the growing political instability in the delta nation. Inspector General of BSF's North Bengal Frontier, S. K. Sood told a journalist in Siliguri that troops have been told to cover all gap areas along the border to counter any infiltration bid. The clash of ideologies could plunge Bangladesh into a cycle of violence as the two main political parties - ruling Awami League led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Bangladesh National Party (BNP) headed by Begum Khaleda Zia, locked in decades of mutual distrust, exploit the tension between secularists and Islamists ahead of elections. Security forces busted terrorist hideout in Rajouri

Rajouri, Nov 15 (ANI): Acting on a tip off, security personnel busted a militant hideout in Rajouri district of Kashmir recovering a huge cache of arms and ammunition. Police conducted a search operation after receiving specific information of ammunition in a militant hideout in Manjakote area of the district. One AK-47 rifle, 11 magazines, 51 rounds of bullets, seven rocket launchers and cache of other arms and ammunitions were recovered from the hideout.
