Visakhapatnam, Oct 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday arrived at the port city of Visakhapatnam to review the situation after cyclone Hudhud hit the states of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. Modi was accompanied by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu. The PM will also be conducting an aerial survey of the cyclone affected areas in both the states. Modi has instructed top officials to ensure that there is no bottleneck in relief and rescue work in the cyclone affected areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the cyclone Hudhud affected areas of Andhra Pradesh in the afternoon on Tuesday, where he will undertake an aerial survey of the worst affected Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts. He has instructed top officials to ensure that there is no bottleneck in relief and rescue work in the cyclone affected areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. He also asked them to continue to work closely with the affected states. Prime Minister Modi earlier emphasized the need to document learnings from this cyclone and to put in place more precise drills and disaster management plans, especially in areas which are prone to such disasters. Cyclone Hudhud: Navy Chief R K Dhowan on relief and rescue operations

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Navy Chief Admiral RK Dhowan on Tuesday said that Indian Navy is lead service with regard to operation Lehar and priority is to provide relief material to the surrounding areas of Andhra Pradesh and wherever required. Naval diving and relief teams have already been deployed to the various district of the state. Efforts are also on to carry out a survey to find out the damage in the naval airport and other areas, however there is no major damage to Ships or submarines. After Cyclone Hudhud battered the Andhra coast, the Indian Navy launched 'Operation Lehar', a massive search and rescue operation, to assess the damage and rush help to areas still reeling under the effect of the devastating storm. Schools reopen in Kashmir as shelling stops at border

Rajouri, Oct 13 (ANI): Schools in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir have reopened after shelling stopped at the de-facto border between India and Pakistan. Schools along the border had been closed down amid continuous shelling. School head, Raees Ahmed, said that with the shelling having stopped, students are now coming to school. Meanwhile, a student, Habiba Kausar, said that peace should be maintained along the border so that education does not suffer. 20,000 Indian civilians have fled their homes in the lowlands around India's Jammu region to escape the fighting, taking refuge in schools and relief camps. Nine Pakistani and eight Indian civilians have been killed since security forces from both sides started heavy shelling more than a week ago along a 200-km (125-mile) stretch of border in Kashmir. Model hospitals being constructed to boost rural healthcare in Assam

Jorhat, Oct 13 (ANI): The Saraibahi area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Titabor sub-division of Assam's Jorhat District, comprises nearly 25 villages with a total population of over 40000. Most of these villages have to depend on a few dispensaries for their basic healthcare needs. However, the construction of a new model hospital under the National Rural Health Mission has come as a big relief, as people do not have to go to big towns anymore to avail better treatment. The basic objective of constructing such model hospitals in the state is to provide quality healthcare facilities to people residing in the remote areas. The Government of Assam is trying to provide better healthcare facilities to people residing in rural and interior areas by establishing model hospitals. It has decided to construct 55 new model hospitals under the National Rural Health Mission. Around 35 hospitals have already started functioning. There are 4 model hospital in Jorhat one is already completed and 3 more are still under construction. These hospitals with a capacity of 30 beds will be equipped with all the modern amenities as per the Indian Public Health Standard. Oct 13, 2014
