SC reserves order on cancellation of coal blocks

New Delhi, Sep 09 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved order on cancellation of coal blocks. However, it has not announced a date for when it will declare its judgement in the case. The Petitioner said that it is a good judgement that SC has reserved the order in coal allocation case. However the lawyer for Coal Companies said that they demand that SC should hear them and not cancel allocations of those who are found to be innocent. Companies who were allocated coal blocks also pleaded with the SC not to cancel allocations without hearing them. Sep 9, 2014

Rahul Gandhi irks women in UP for not hearing their water, electricity woes

Munshiganj, Sept 05 (ANI): Women's wing of Bharatiya Kisan Union, a farmer's union, on Friday (September 05) protested in Munshiganj village of Uttar Pradesh, on being denied a meeting with Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi with whom they wanted to share their woes regarding scarcity of electricity and water for their fields. Munshiganj is located in the Raebarelli district of Uttar Pradesh, a constituency under the Congress President, Sonia Gandhi. Women in the area wanted to meet Sonia's son and scion of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, Rahul Gandhi, to discuss the prevailing problems of water and electricity. Protesters blamed the government for ignoring the needs of the farmers and entering into business with industrialists. Omar Abdullah promises to compensate families affected due to cross-border shelling

Jammu, Sept 03 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met the families affected by Pakistan's ceasefire violations along the international border and promised to amend the existing compensation SRO policy. He expressed regret over the fact that solely militancy affected families get relief funds, and not the ones which also suffer due to cross-border shelling. Abdullah added whoever has borne heavy losses due to damage to their crops because of exchange of fire will also be compensated with free ration for three months. Meanwhile, Abdullah also inaugurated a multi-level parking lot in Jammu. Speaking to the mediapersons, he emphasized upon restoring dialogue with Pakistan regardless of the number of encounters that have taken place in Kashmir valley. Sep 3, 2014
