Manipur: 155 militants surrender to join mainstream

Imphal, Sep 10 (ANI): In a remarkable achievement, at least 155 rebels belonging to four different outfits in Manipur surrendered and attained a ceasefire pact with the state Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh after a prolonged negotiation. Senior government official J Suresh Babu, who serves as principal secretary (Home), said the surrender would add to peace in Manipur. The state government signed an agreement with the rebel groups on Monday and they would be given rehabilitation package. Indian government and the Government of Manipur have been making sincere efforts for bringing peace in Manipur by urging the rebels to join mainstream. Sep 10, 2013
