Accident at nuclear submarine in Visakhapatnam kills one, injures two, Politicos react

New Delhi, Mar 9 (ANI): One civilian worker was killed and two others were injured on Saturday in an accident at the under-construction nuclear submarine at the shipbuilding centre of Eastern Naval Command (ENC) in Visakhapatnam. The accident reportedly took place on the Aridaman project, the follow on boat of INS Arihant, at the ship building centre in Visakhapatnam while pressure tests were being carried out. An enquiry has been ordered to probe the accident. This comes just a day after a naval officer was killed on Friday in a gas leak on board India's most advanced destroyer ship, the INS Kolkata, while the vessel is under construction at Mumbai's Mazgaon dockyard. Reacting on the same, CPI leader Atul Anjan said that Submarine accidents are a very sensitive issue and politicians should stay away from commenting on it. Further, BJP Leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said that someone must take the responsibility of the number of incidents that has taken place within navy. He also added that even after many frequent accidents if the Defense Minister remains silent, it will put a huge question mark in front of the people. Mar 9, 2014
