Police arrest Maoist in Jharkhand, recover arms and ammunition

Palamu, Mar 5 (ANI): Police on Tuesday arrested a Maoist cadre, Sanjay Bhuiya, in Palamu district of Jharkhand. During the arrest, the police officials also recovered arms and ammunition. Ramesh also added that his team was conducting an anti-Maoist operation in Palamu since past three to four days. The Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since the 1960s. The Maoists, who say they are fighting for the rights of the poor and landless, control some of India's mineral-rich areas and operate in large swathes of the eastern, central and southern countryside. Police nab five Maoists in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Mar 4 (ANI): Police have arrested five Maoists and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions after a joint combing operation with paramilitary force in Jharkhand. Deputy Auxiliary Police (DAP) launched a joint operation at the rebel hideout in Ranchi district. The Superintendent of Police, Prabhat Kumar, said that the rebels belonged to People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI). Maoists say they are fighting for the rights of poor farmers and landless labourers. However, thousands have been killed in the insurgency since the late 1960s.
