Jammu, May 20 (ANI): At least 17 people were killed and more than 30 injured when a bus going to the Kashmir valley fell into a deep gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Ramban district of Jammu on Tuesday. According to a senior official, the bus was carrying passengers from Jammu to Srinagar and fell into a deep gorge after it went out of the driver's control at Digdol in Ramban district. Helicopters have been rushed to the spot to evacuate the injured to hospital. Most of the passengers in the bus were youths coming to the Valley from Poonch and Rajouri districts for a recruitment rally. May 20, 2014

Navy chief says safety measures in place after spate of marine incidents

Mumbai, May 19 (ANI): Navy chief, Admiral Robin K Dhowan, on Monday assured that safety measures were in place and standing operating procedures were being followed in wake of recent maritime accidents. Dhowan, addressing the officers and sailors of the Western Naval Command in Mumbai said that various measures have been put in place to avert any major accident. Fourteen killed, 20 injured as bus overturns in Jharkhand

Godda, May 18 (ANI): At least 14 people were killed while 20 others injured in a fatal road accident as bus overturned in Godda district of Jharkhand. According to police the bus was returning from a marriage party when the driver, who was drunk, lost control and the vehicle overturned. The injured have been admitted to a hospital in the district, where seven of them were reported to be critical. Twelve were found dead on the spot and later, two succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. Police said investigations were under way and elaborated on the details. The driver is still absconding. Road accidents are common in India, where roads are often of poor quality. May 18, 2014
