New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): Reactions come in as the Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University wrote to Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani, warning of "massive student unrest" and a "probability of communal conflagration" if "certain elements" go ahead with their plan to commemorate the birthday of Raja Mahendra Pratap, on the varsity campus on December 1. BJP said that AMU should refrain from communalizing and try to keep itself away from politics for the good of the university. Meanwhile, Congress leader Manish Tewari said that if the central university's VC is saying something, it should be taken into cognizance. NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that BJP has this ideology of communalizing the atmosphere and such acts will further deteriorate conditions in UP and the university. Nov 28, 2014

Hyderabad/ Lucknow, Nov 27 (ANI): The BJP on Thursday slammed the ruling SP government in Uttar Pradesh for raising a controversy over the celebration of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh’s birthday. BJP President in UP, Laxmikant Bajpai said that the BJP wanted to celebrate the birthday of a great freedom fighter who donated land for the development of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). He added that SP, which itself did not do so in the past, can only create controversy. Maulana Kalbe Jawwad slams Modi government after being detained at Delhi airport

New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANI): Noted Indian Shi'ite cleric, Maulana Kalbe Jawwad slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi government for stopping a six-member humanitarian delegation, which was headed to war-torn Iraq ravaged by the Islamic state (IS) militants, for rehabilitation and relief work. Jawwad, who was heading the delegation, is the general secretary of one India's leading Islamic Organisation, Jamiat-Ulema-I-Hind. He and the preparatory delegation were detained at international airport in New Delhi on Sunday after a Look out circular (LOC) letter by Intelligence Bureau officials was shown to them. Hitting at the BJP government, he said LOC is shown to the untraceable criminals, not to those with no criminal backgrounds, heading for a noble cause.
