Giridih, April 2 (ANI): In a joint operation, police along with paramilitary, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), in Jharkhand seized huge cache of explosive material that could have allegedly been used by Maoists to attack security forces during upcoming elections. Maoists have been resisting any democratic process in the region from decades. A big challenge faced by security officials is conducting polls without any troubles or disruptions. Militant hideout busted in J&K, cache of arms & ammunitions recovered

Baramulla, March 30 (ANI): Paramilitary forces on Sunday busted a militant’s hideout in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of upcoming general election. A huge cache of arms and ammunitions were recovered from the hideout during a joint operation by Rashtriya Rifles and Police in Tangmula forest of Baramulla district. Following this the security had been beefed up in the valley. The restive region has witnessed numerous militant attacks, insurgency, and infiltration attempts from across the border in the last two decades. Maoists in Bastar threaten people to boycott general elections

Bastar, Mar 30 (ANI): As India prepares for mammoth general elections that are just a week away, Maoists in ‘red corridor’ of Bastar district of Chhattisgarh held a Jan Adalat on Saturday (March 29), asking villagers to boycott polls. The red rebels held a rally in the dense forests of the region and threatened not to vote. Not only the villagers, the politicians and candidates are also under the constant threat of Maoists, who are braving the situation and are working to encourage people to vote. A big challenge being faced by security officials is the holding of polls without any troubles or disruptions. The Maoists say they are fighting for the rights of millions of landless tribal people. India abstains from voting against Sri Lanka on UNHRC resolution

New Delhi, March 27 (ANI): India on Thursday abstained from voting on the US-sponsored resolution seeking probe into Sri Lankan war crimes at the UNHRC, though the resolution was passed with the support of 23 nations. Talking over the same, MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that India have voted differently on the resolution as it imposes an international investigation mechanism. Police arrests Maoist in Jharkhand

Simdega, March 25 (ANI): Acting on a tip-off, police arrested a Maoist, identified as Sanju Pradhan in Simdega district of Jharkhand. Police recovered four mobile phones from him. Superintendent of Police (SP) Aseem Vikrant said that the arrested Maoist was on task of recce for observing troop movement in the region. The hotbeds of Maoists in the state are under tight security blanket, as India, will hold its general election in nine stages staggered between April 7 and May 12.
