Sukhbir Badal meets Rajnath Singh over release of prisoners

New Delhi, Jan 08 (ANI): Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the plea of SAD government demanding release of the prisoners who have completed their given sentence of punishment. Badal said that the Akali Dal government is not demanding anything wrong because some of the prisoners who have completed their sentence are very old or even blind which is why they should be released on humanitarian grounds. He added that the demands are being wrongly portrayed as supporting terrorists which is wrong. Badal also said that the Home Minister has assured legal action in the case. Jan 8, 2015

New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal has written in a letter to many states demanding the release of 13 Sikh terrorists involved in Khalistan activities. This drew reactions on Wednesday from political and anti-terrorist organizations. NCP leader Majid Memon said that this is a matter which should be treated or released under law. BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao said that political parties should not use terror to hold votes. Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that it was a matter to be dealt between law and government. SAD clarifies Punjab CM's demand on terrorists' release, commemoration of death anniversary of Indir

New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): President of SAD unit in Delhi and President of DSGMC, Manjit Singh GK on Wednesday clarified the demand made by Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal regarding the release of 13 terrorists jailed in connection with Khalistan activities. Manjit Singh GK said that the terrorists have completed even more than 10 years beyond their jail sentence which is why they have all the right to be released. He added that it was a case of human rights and the legal procedure shall be followed. He further clarified the misconception regarding the commemoration of death anniversary of Indira Gandhi's assassins by Akal Takht saying that it was a custom at gurudwara to honour anybody who keeps a 'path'.
