New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Congress Leader Shashi Tharoor was on Monday removed from the post of spokesperson of the party. The decision came after Congress President Sonia Gandhi accepted the recommendation of AICC disciplinary committee to remove Tharoor from the list of spokespersons. Accepting the decision of the party, Tharoor said that he accepted the decision taken by the leadership as a loyal party worker. The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) had earlier complained against Tharoor, accusing him of praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies. The KPCC had also criticized Tharoor after he had accepted PM Modi’s invitation to join the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Oct 13, 2014

New Delhi, Oct 07 (ANI): Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday cordially accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation for 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' and said that he was surprised at Congress' criticism over the incident. He said that when inviting, the prime minister specifically addressed him as Congress leader and MP. Tharoor related the campaign as a goal aimed by Mahatma Gandhi, towards which all parties should work together. He said that there should be a sustained effort to take the programmes of sanitation ahead. Further he said that he is proud to be a congressman and an Indian and that India should be put first.
