SC refuses to stop media from reporting on cases against Asaram

New Delhi, Oct 21 (ANI): In a major setback for self-styled godman Asaram, the Supreme Court on Monday refused to restrain media from reporting cases of sexual assault filed against him and his absconding son Narayan Sai. However, the apex court cautioned the media to responsibly report criminal cases involving Asaram and his son. The apex court also directed the media to avoid sensationalizing and present facts related to the cases involving the godman and his family members. The apex court passed the order in response to a plea moved by the godman seeking a Supreme Court ban on media reporting cases against him and his son. Oct 21, 2013

Gurgaon, Oct 17 (ANI): A group of men allegedly armed with chains, iron rods and hockey sticks assaulted Delhi-Gurgaon expressway toll staff and looted Rs 1.85 lakh. The whole incident was caught on a CCTV camera, installed on the Gurgaon-Pataudi Road. The men came in a black Scorpio with a red beacon light, beat up the toll plaza staff, grabbed the cash and fled. Jodhpur, Oct 11 (ANI): Self-styled godman Asaram Bapu's judicial custody was extended on Friday by another 14 days, till October 25, by a Jodhpur court in connection with a sexual assault case. According to reports, the Jodhpur based court also extended custody of his two close aides, including former ashram supervisor Shilpi. Asaram had earlier moved a bail application in the Rajasthan High Court, which was rejected. According to reports, the court of the district and sessions judge (Jodhpur Rural) will, meanwhile, decide on the plea by a Gujarat Police team seeking custody of Asaram for questioning him in connection with a sexual assault case lodged by two sisters from Surat against him and his son. Surat, Oct 10(ANI): Legal advisor to self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu's son Narayan Sai, Gautam Desai said that they are planning to file anticipatory bail, in the light of the fresh sexual assault allegations levelled against him. Kumar also denied that Narayan Sai went 'missing' after he was named as an accused in the sexual assault case. The Surat Police on Monday issued a lookout notice against Narayan Sai.
