PM Modi appreciates leading citizens for participating in 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'

New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday lauded Bollywood mega star Amitabh Bachchan among others for participating in his pet project 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'. Modi took to twitter to appreciate the efforts of leading citizens for giving a boss to the Clean India Campaign. He twitted saying, "Who won't get inspired when @SrBachchan himself wields the broom and joins Swachh Bharat Mission! Very significant effort." The prime minister also retweeted Bachchan's tweets. Prime Minister Modi also lauded 35-year-old Laila Shah who wielded broom in the streets of violence-hit Trilokpuri area in Delhi. He tweeted, "Good effort by Laila Shah and her friends towards Clean India. Such efforts are a big strength for Swachh Bharat Mission!" The prime minister also praised hockey player Sardara Singh. Music video launched on Modi's Clean India vision

Mumbai, Oct 29 (ANI): Singer and Producer Ravindra Singh along with singer Mohit Chauhan launched a music video supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Clean India mission and his vision of development, in showbiz capital Mumbai. Modi had launched the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' or Clean India Mission, on birth anniversary of freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi to modernise sanitation within five years. The video titled 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' (One India, glorious India) has been released to create awareness among the masses on cleanliness. Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini and top sporting stars like Sachin Tendulkar, Mahindra Singh Dhoni, Saina Nehwal, Mary Kom and Sushil Kumar feature in the video. The video is directed by film and television actor, Rajeev Khandelwal, and lyrics are given by Rani Malik. Authorities rope in residents to clean holy river Ganges in Allahabad

Allahabad/Patna, Oct 27 (ANI): State administration of Uttar Pradesh undertook a massive drive by including local residents to clean up holy River Ganges in Allahabad. Hundreds of officials and volunteers cleaned up the bank and swept the nearby roads. The government has also planned to stop direct discharge of drains into the river. She appreciated the cleanliness drive. The 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' was launched nationwide to focus on sanitation, hygiene and waste management. It encourages people to sweep, remove garbage, debris and unauthorized encroachments from roads, markets and residential places. Venkaiah Naidu wields broom to clean cyclone-hit Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam, Oct 24 (ANI): Urban Development Minister, M Venkaiah Naidu, on Friday picked up the broom to clean cyclone-hit port city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cleanliness campaign. Andhra Pradesh and Odisha were recently hit by cyclone Hudhud that left a trail of destruction and killed around 41 people. It ripped apart tens of thousands of mud-and-thatch homes, flattened rice, banana and sugarcane plantations and snapped electricity lines. Prime Minister Modi launched the nationwide cleanliness mission on October 02 to raise awareness of cleanliness and better sanitation among its citizens under the banner of 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan' or Clean India Mission. On Friday, Naidu said Mahatma Gandhi had made inspiring statement that "cleanliness is next to godliness." To drive home his point, Modi had ordered government workers including his ministers to participate in the drive.
