Indian Coast Guard progresses on Tamil fishermen issues

Chennai, Jan 20 (ANI): Inspector General of Indian Coast Guard, Satya Prakash Sharma briefed mediapersons regarding the issues of Tamil fishermen. Sharma said that though the Indian coast guard has arrested Sri Lankan fishermen for illegal fishing in Indian waters on several occasions, they are more often let off after serving their jail term or are exchanged in lieu of the Indian fishermen who are held captive by the Sri Lankan forces. Kolkata / New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Former Supreme Court judge, Justice AK Ganguly, who has been accused of sexual assault by a law intern, resigned from the West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC). Commenting on the resignation of Ganguly, Additional solicitor general, Indira Jaisingh said that the decision, in her opinion, was wise. Former Attorney General, Soli Sorabjee blamed the media of being unfair to Ganguly but said that the decision nevertheless was a wise one.
