Bhopal/ Ludhiana/ New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): India's former hockey players have hailed prospects of conferring the country's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna to the sports wizard Major Dhyan Chand. However, the government so far has not issued any official statement in this regard. Former Olympian Aslam Sher Khan, whose father was also a hockey player and team mate of Dhyan Chand in Berlin Olympics in 1936, said the hockey wizard should be the first choice among sportspersons for the highest civilian honour. A court on Tuesday reserved its order on the quantum of sentence against main accused Sher Singh Rana, convicted for killing bandit-turned-politician Phoolan Devi. Delhi Police has demanded death penalty for Rana. Additional Sessions Judge Bharat Parashar fixed Aug 14 for delivering the order on the quantum of sentence against Rana.
