Railway Minister arrives in Patna to review Dibrugarh Express derailment site

Patna, June 25 (ANI): Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda arrived in Patna to take a stock of the accident site in Chhapra where the Delhi-Dibrugarh Express had derailed. The incident took place at 2:15 in the morning killing at least four people and injuring eight. Gowda has announced compensation of Rs two lakh for the deceased and Rs one lakh for those who were injured, although the Bihar government had questioned the compensation saying that the set amount should be Rs five lakh. New Delhi, June 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the death of people who were killed after the Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express train derailed. PMO tweeted, "The PM has condoled the loss of lives due to the accident of the Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express. He prays for the speedy recovery of the injured" Meanwhile, President Pranab Mukherjee too expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in the Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express accident. In a message, the President has said "I am saddened to learn about the derailment of a train near Chhapra this morning, in which some persons have lost their lives and many others are injured. "I call upon the state government and railway authorities to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved families as well as the best of medical attention to the injured," he said. Jun 25, 2014

Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express derails in Bihar, four killed

Chapra, June 25 (ANI): Nine coaches of the Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express derailed near Chapra in Bihar, killing four and injuring eight others on Wednesday. Maoist role speculated. The accident occurred barely hours after Maoists had announced a strike in Bihar which raised speculations of an alleged Maoist role in the accident. However, General Manager, Eastern Railway, Mathuresh Kumar did not assert a Maoist sabotage. Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sushil Kumar said that the number of casualties is four.
