Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje attends 1st NITI Aayog meeting, discusses problems facing the state

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje among other state chief ministers attended the first NITI Aayog meeting headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. Presenting her views at the first meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog, Raje suggested for allowing the states to prepare and implement various development projects as per the regional conditions and providing central funds for such schemes. Raje also suggested for setting-up an empowered-committee under the NITI Aayog for coordination and resolution of issues of various projects initiated by various ministries and state governments. She also suggested to restrict the number of centre-sponsored schemes to 10 and to allow the states for utilisation of rest of the funds for such central schemes. Feb 9, 2015

Bihar CM meets Prime Minister Modi

New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): Beleaguered Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Sunday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders are expected to discuss the political situation in Bihar where an overwhelming majority of ruling JD (U) MLAs chose Nitish Kumar as their legislative party leader. Manjhi is in the national capital to attend the NITI Ayog meeting, where the prime minister sought chief ministers' feedback on Central projects. According to sources, Bihar CM will also meet the BJP's Central leadership later. New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): After the NITI Aayog meeting ended, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday said that the meeting was extremely useful in that Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on empowerment of the states. Jaitley said that the PM gave opening comments thereafter each states gave their opinions. He said that the opening comments were in context of governing model and that the PM said that priorities are growth, investment, jobs and decentralization. He also said that Modi emphasized that economic activities should be in the states and there should be flexibility of states.
