Kamal Haasan takes up Modi's clean India challenge on 60th birthday

Chennai, Nov 7 (ANI): Veteran Actor Kamal Haasan, took up 'Clean India' mission on his 60th birthday on Friday, swept street and picked up garbage in Tamil Nadu. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the nationwide cleanliness mission on October 02 to raise awareness of cleanliness and better sanitation among its citizens under the banner of 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan', or Clean India Campaign. Haasan took up cleaning of Madhambakkam Lake in Chennai. Haasan participated in the movement along with the volunteers of a welfare club and volunteers of Environmentalist Foundation of India and his fans. Meanwhile, President of BJP's Tamil Nadu unit Tamilisai Soundararajan, welcomed Haasan at the lake site with floral bouquets. Nov 7, 2014

Satish Upadhyay says forging 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' condemnable, had no knowledge about same

New Delhi, Nov 06 (ANI): Clarifying on the controversy over his cleanliness drive, Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay on Thursday said that he totally condemns forging of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' and that it should be taken seriously and carried on honestly. He also said that he or any BJP leaders had no knowledge of the same and he went there as a participant. Upadhyay said that it was a program of the Islamic Centre and he was there for a few minutes only. He further condemned the incident saying it was a human error and should not be done in future. Mumbai, Nov 06 (ANI): Congress MLA Nitesh Rane on Thursday stood firm on his tweet once again targeting Gujarati community residing in Mumbai. Congress leader Narayan Rane's son had tweeted, "Wanna take part in Swacha Bharat abhiyan and start from Mumbai!! Wanna start cleaning up all the Marathi hating gujjus from there once for all." Rane said that the Gujarati community post obligatory remarks against Marathis on twitter and terms them as downtrodden and second-hand citizens. Reactions come in as Delhi HC slams MCD for running 'Dirty India Campaign'

New Delhi/ Kaushambi, Nov 06 (ANI): Reactions come from political leaders after Delhi High Court slammed Municipal Corporation of Delhi for unhygienic conditions in the national capital and made an observation that it was running a 'Ganda Bharat Abhiyan' or 'Dirty India Campaign'. While BJP said that government is committed to its 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyan’, Congress and AAP alleged that the ruling BJP is only doing a show off and the MCD under them has failed to perform on the ground. CPI leader D Raja also said that now that the HC has slammed the MCD, it needs to give a report on the same. New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday lauded Bollywood mega star Amitabh Bachchan among others for participating in his pet project 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'. Modi took to twitter to appreciate the efforts of leading citizens for giving a boss to the Clean India Campaign. He twitted saying, "Who won't get inspired when @SrBachchan himself wields the broom and joins Swachh Bharat Mission! Very significant effort." The prime minister also retweeted Bachchan's tweets. Music video launched on Modi's Clean India vision

Mumbai, Oct 29 (ANI): Singer and Producer Ravindra Singh along with singer Mohit Chauhan launched a music video supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Clean India mission and his vision of development, in showbiz capital Mumbai. Modi had launched the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' or Clean India Mission, on birth anniversary of freedom fighter Mahatma Gandhi to modernise sanitation within five years. The video titled 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' (One India, glorious India) has been released to create awareness among the masses on cleanliness. Authorities rope in residents to clean holy river Ganges in Allahabad
