Pune, Jan 08 (ANI): Taking the ambitious Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) forward, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar cleans up his housing complex along with fellow residents in Pune on Thursday. Javadekar said the campaign would help in disciplined nation building. A campaign called 'plastic waste-free India' will be launched in Shirur area of Pune district on Friday. Gandhinagar, Jan 08 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 13th edition of'Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas' in Gandhinagar on Thursday. About 4000 NRIs from 58 countries are in the city to attend the annual fest that brings together members of the Indian diaspora to engage and discuss investing in India. Earlier he launched the 'Dandi Kutir', a unique exhibition depicting various stages of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi's life and work. Gandhinagar, Jan 07 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj inaugurated the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Gandhinagar on Wednesday by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Swaraj while speaking at the event invited the 'young pravasis' to come and contribute to India's growth. Swaraj also talked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies of 'Make in India', 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' among others. She also applauded Indian economy 'showing new dynamism under the new government'. More than 4,000 delegates have arrived for the 13th PBD, the world's largest annual gathering of people of Indian origin, aimed at enhancing networking and reinforcing commercial linkages. Worker unions of Coal India Limited go on five-day strike

Dhanbad, Jan 06 (ANI): Five worker unions of state-owned Coal India Limited sat on a five-day strike, beginning from Tuesday, against the government's plan to allow private companies mine and sell coal. Workers shouted anti-government slogans. An official of Bharat Coking Coal Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, Shiv Ram Vasundhar, said the strike would ultimately affect the common man. Mayawati said that Vajpayee should get the Bharat Ratna but also demanded that the award be conferred on Dalit icons like Kanshiram as well.
