Lakshmikant Sharma and others sent to judicial custody over Vyapam scam

Bhopal, June 27 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Former minister was sent to jail over alleged involvement in Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, in which many government employees are under scanner for getting selected through unfair means. Special Task Force (STF) constituted for an investigation into MPPEB scam, or Vyapam scam, detained Laxmikant Sharma, former state technical education minister, for interrogation. STF inspector, Indresh Tripathi, said total 15 people have been sent to judicial custody. India's Congress party had accused leaders of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of being involved in the scam. Congress party spokesperson, KK Mishra, had demanded a CBI probe in the nexus among middlemen, politicians, bureaucrats and education mafia. Jun 27, 2014

Manish Tewari criticizes NDA regime over FYUP

New Delhi, June 23 (ANI): Congress leader Manish Tewari on Monday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government for playing with the lives of students aspiring for admission to Delhi University (DU) because of the Four year Under Graduate Programme (FYUP). Condemning the University Grants Commission (UGC's) decision to go back to the three year undergraduate course, Tewari demanded answers from the UGC and Delhi University for implementing the FYUP in the first place. On Sunday, the University Grants Commission (UGC) put up three separate notices for Delhi University, the colleges under it and students and parents, saying that the four-year undergraduate programme has been scrapped.
