Haridwar /Gorakhpur / New Delhi, July 14 (ANI): Thousands of devout Hindu thronged the temples of Hindu lord Shiva across the country and offered special prayers to mark the first auspicious Monday of month long 'Shravan' festival. The devotees gathered in large numbers offering milk, curd, ghee, honey and holy water to Lord Shiva in wee hours of morning. Long queues of people were waiting with assortment of religious offerings such as incense sticks, red vermilion and flowers. Pathak Sharma, a priest of the temple in Haridwar said on Monday that during the auspicious Shravan month pilgrims have to offer different forms of liquids to Lord Shiva for their wish-fulfilment. Mathura, July 12 (ANI): Thousands of devotees thronged temple of Lord Krishna in holy city of Mathura on Saturday to offer special prayers to mark the festival of Guru Purnima, which is celebrated to honour the spiritual teachers. Chanting hymns and carrying religious offerings, believers made a beeline to pay respect to Lord Krishna. According to the Hindu mythology, the festival is celebrated to express gratitude towards one's Guru (spiritual teacher). According to Hindu beliefs, a guru holds an exalted position, even higher than that of the God. Hindus believe that one’s Guru is the only person who can guide them on the path towards Moksh (emancipation). Ministers discuss various measures for cleaning River Ganges, invite suggestions

New Delhi, July 07 (ANI): Indian ministers, lawmakers, scientists, religious leaders and NGO's participated in a day-long dialogue on River Ganges rejuvenation plan on Monday and invited measures from experts and public to aid in the efforts. Issues related to pollution of the Ganges were addressed and discussion findings were shared with the committee of secretaries that has been working on a plan on the development of the river. Minister of Water Resources, Uma Bharti, said that the people involved in the Ganges cleaning project, irrespective of their departments, were all united on seeing the holy river in a pristine state once again.
