Prithviraj Chavan to help ease onion prices in Delhi

Mumbai, Oct 24 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Thursday promised to supply onions to Delhi in the wake of the soaring prices of onions in the city. According to media reports, the bulb was selling at Rs 90 to Rs 100 per Kg on Wednesday. Chavan said that supply of the vegetable would be sent from Nashik. Chavan added that this year, a drought followed by heavy rain affected the supplies, however the onions would be sold to Delhi at much lower rates. Oct 24, 2013

IMF cuts India's growth forecast to 3.8%, BJP hits government

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): As India suffered the steepest cut in the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) revised growth forecasts for the year, BJP leader Yashwant Sinha on Thursday stated that the issue is very serious. He also called Finance Minister P Chidambaram an expert in bringing down growth rates. IMF, in its flagship World Economic Outlook report said that India will grow only 3.8% in the 2013-14 financial year against 5.6% projected in its July forecast, a cut of 1.8 percentage points. Consumers hail petrol price cut

Consumers on Tuesday welcomed the cut announced in petrol prices by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOC), the first reduction in rates in over five months but anticipate further hike in fuel prices in the coming days. IOC, the country's biggest refiner, said on Monday (September 30) it would cut petrol prices by 4.8 percent following an appreciation of the rupee and softening global in gasoline prices during the second half of September. IOC however raised diesel prices by 1.1 percent to reduce its revenue losses as Indian refiners sell the fuel at state-set low prices. Congress welcomes petrol price slash, links diesel hike to international market

New Delhi, Oct 01 (ANI): Congress leader Rashid Alvi welcomed the petrol price slash, and linked the diesel hike to trends in the international market. Petrol prices were cut by Rs 3.05 per litre, and diesel prices were raised by 50 paise per litre. New Delhi, Sept 24 (ANI): Senior finance ministry official, Arvind Mayaram said on Monday that India has no plan to offer a special window to lend funds at lower interest rates to companies in some sectors.The finance ministry and the central bank were considering a selective stimulus plan that involved a debt-buying programme for eligible companies. Mayaram said that the banks in India have not yet developed the capability of appraising projects for a long duration.
