Army recovers huge cache of arms and ammunitions from militant hideout in Kashmir

Baramulla, July 27 (ANI): Indian security forces busted a militant hideout in Kashmir's Baramulla district and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the area on Sunday. A joint operation was launched by a branch of Indian army, Rashtriya Rifles, and provincial police after intelligence inputs. During the raid, the security forces seized AK-47, two magazines which consist of 225 rounds, 19 rounds of heavy calibre, 13 UBGL round, one communication set, three Chinese grenade, two rockets, three detonators and various other ammunitions. Recovered arms and ammunition were destroyed soon after the seizure. The restive region has witnessed numerous militant attacks, insurgency, and infiltration attempts from across the border in the last two decades. Jul 27, 2014

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Mohammed Sharif Chouhan said it was an old militant hideout which was busted. During the raid, the security forces also seized country-made pistol, two country-made guns, PIKA ammunition, grenades and various other ammunitions. Khunti, July 24 (ANI): Police killed one Maoist in an encounter and also recovered a huge cache of arms in red corridor of Khunti district in Jharkhand. On a tip off, police launched a joint operation along with paramilitary, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in an area where 20 to 25 rebels were estimated to be hiding. During the search operations, Maoists started firing at the police and during the encounter one Maoist was shot dead.
