AAP govt announces reduced electricity bills, free water for Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 25 (ANI): Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday announced reduced electricity bills and free water for the people of Delhi soon after coming to power. Sisodia said that promises made by the AAP government will be fulfilled keeping the interests of people in mind. He said that the households which use electricity up to 400 units per month shall be eligible for paying half of their bill amount, while the families which exceed 400 units will have to pay the entire bill. Further, Sisodia announced free supply of 20,000 litres of water to every household in a month. The facilities will be effective from March 01 onwards. Feb 25, 2015

Shiv Sena boycotts NDA meeting, asks govt to rework on land acquisition bill

New Delhi, Feb 25 (ANI): After the opposition parties led by congress walked out of the Parliament in protest of government’s land acquisition bill, BJP ally Shiv Sena skipped a meeting of NDA government over the issue. Both Shiv Sena and the Akali Dal have termed the Government's controversial land bill “anti-farmer and against the interests of poor”. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that the party has always worked in the interest of the farmers and will ask the BJP to review certain points in the bill. Meanwhile, central government hinted at diluting some of the provisions of the new land acquisition ordinance after meeting with its allies and amid growing protest on Tuesday. BJP to hold parliamentary meet over Land Acquisition Ordinance

New Delhi, Feb 24 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold a parliamentary board meeting for the second time on Tuesday (February 24) over the land acquisition ordinance. The first meeting earlier in the day, before the parliament session began, was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani. Minister of State for parliamentary affairs, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, told media the leaders of BJP and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will meet in the evening to deliberate on the issues on how to make the land acquisition bill more effective for the farmers. Earlier in the day the government introduced in the lower house of the parliament the controversial Land Acquisition Amendment Bill 2015 amid vociferous protests by the opposition.
