Sonia Gandhi hosts farewell dinner for PM Manmohan Singh

New Delhi, May 15 (ANI): Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi hosted a farewell dinner in New Delhi on Wednesday for Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, as he prepared to leave office after presiding for a decade over the world's largest democracy. A momento, signed by all members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and Union Ministers, was also presented to Dr Singh by Sonia. Several top party leaders, including P Chidambabaram, Sushilkumar Shinde, Salman Khurshid, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Ajay Maken, were present for the dinner at 10 Janpath in Delhi. However, absence of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's from the send-off dinner raised many political eyebrows. Kolkata, Dec 27 (ANI): Christians across various cities in India reveled in festive spirit as they sang carols in decked up churches while attending special midnight mass prayers on the Christmas Eve. Marking the annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, Christmas is celebrated across the world on December 25. The midnight mass precedes the Christmas day and the church resounds with joyful singing of Christmas carols and thanksgiving. In Kolkata city of eastern state of West Bengal on Wednesday, devotees gathered to attend the special mass and sang carols to celebrate the Christmas spirit. A large number of people gathered at the San Thome Church in southern city Chennai and participated in the Christmas celebrations with fervor. Hundreds of worshippers also participated in a Christmas Eve mass and sang Christmas carols in western Mumbai city. The churches were decorated with colorful lights and idol of baby Jesus Christ along with Mother Mary and Joseph placed in the Christmas stable. Garo community in Nagaland celebrates its post harvest Wangala festival with great enthusiasm

Nagaland, Dec 10 (ANI): Around hundred of Garos gathered at Samaguri Village in Dimapur to celebrate Wangla festival. The Wangala is the most significant post harvest festival. It is a "Thanksgiving" ceremony to Misi Saljong, also known as Pattigipa Ra'rongipa (The Great Giver) for having blessed the human beings with rich harvest of the season. It is one of the most important festivals of the Garo tribe. Many young boys and girls, in their traditional attires performed a Folk dance with drum beats during the festival. Dec 10, 2013
