Censor Board should be loyal to govt not to political parties, will soon be appointing new board mem

New Delhi, Jan 18 (ANI): Dismissing allegations against the government of interference and corruption by former Censor Board members, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore said that the former should be loyal to the Government of India and not to any particular political party. He said that the government had faith in the board and that is why it gave them time to work and extension of term as well. Rathore said that the government wants to stay on a positive note but now the aim is to form a new, better CBFC in a few days. Earlier in the day, I and B Minister Arun Jaitley dismissed the allegations calling the former Censor Board members 'rebels without a cause' in one of his articles. Govt. accepts CBFC chief Leela Samson's resignation

New Delhi, Jan 17 (ANI): The government has accepted the resignation of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairperson Leela Samson. Samson had resigned following the clearance given by Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) to Dera Sachcha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's film, 'Messenger of God'. She had alleged interference, coercion and corruption of panel members and officers of the Board who are appointed by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. Meanwhile, 12 more members of the Board followed Samson's suggestion of quitting "en masse" and tendered their resignations on Saturday. Jan 17, 2015

New Delhi, Jan 17 (ANI): Outgoing Central Board of Film Certfication (CBFC) member Ira Bhaskar on Saturday said the resignation of all members was in support of Leela Samson, the former chairperson of the statutory board. She also said that a joint letter of resignation in which nine people have signed was submitted. Bhaskar, a professor of cinema studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University also cleared that the reason for resignation was not the movie Messenger of God (MSG). Bhaskar also said that the Board continued working on extension even after its term was over. Bhaskar resigned on Friday after Leela Samson stepped down as the board's chairperson.
