Clashes erupt after 28 Kurdish mayors lose posts

Clashes have erupted in Turkey after 28 Kurdish mayors were removed from their posts. Some 24 are suspected of ties with the Kurdistan Workers Party and four are believed to have links with the Gulen movement which the government claims was responsible for the attempted coup in July. The statement form the Turkish Interior Ministry said that when local governments “come under the influence of terrorist organisations, it is the states primary duty to take precautions against those who have usurped the peoples will.
