Youth get training to make bamboo products in Manipur

Imphal, March 30 (ANI): All together 30 trainees are undergoing a one-month residential artisans' training programme on bamboo handicraft and furniture at the Naoremthong Laishram Khulem Leikai Community Hall in Imphal. The training programme is organized jointly by the Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre, Burnihat Assam and Lifeline Development Organisation and State Bamboo Mission, Manipur. The objective is to make the youth self-reliant and provide them a source of income. These youth are quite happy to learn new bamboo crafts and designs, under master trainers from Assam, Tripura and Manipur. Mar 30, 2014

CBI arrests IT officer and husband for accepting Rs 10 lakh bribe

Bhopal, March 29 (ANI): Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an a deputy commissioner of income tax department and her husband for accepting bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a builder to settle his tax penalty case in Bhopal. The arrested officer has been identified as Poonam Roy, who is a 2007 batch IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer. She was held along with her husband Ganesh Malviya who acted as a mediator. Reportedly, the builder filed a complaint with the CBI about money being demanded to settle the penalty and he had claimed that he had been paying his tax regularly. CBI then set up a trap and caught the duo red-handed at their residence. Mar 29, 2014
