PM Modi meets senior ministers to discuss 'Clean India Mission'

New Delhi, Sep 19 (ANI): Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Friday met his senior ministers and bureaucrats to discuss his dream project 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' or Clean India Mission. Clean India Mission will be launched on October 02, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, to create a clean India by 2019 by eliminating the unhealthy practice of open defecation. Linking cleanliness to tourism and economy, earlier, Modi said that world-class levels of hygiene and cleanliness are required in the country's top fifty tourist destinations to bring about a paradigm shift in the global perception of India. Modi had said in his first Independence Day speech on August 15 that the poor needed self respect , which begins with cleanliness and had urged the nation to make the country a cleaner one by 2019. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 19.80 points up to stand at 8,105.50. AMARAJABAT and OFSS were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 8.44% and 6.58% along with CIPLA and EXIDE INDUSTRIES LTD. with an increase of 6.38% and 6.19% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include JPINFRATEC and BHARAT FORGE LTD. with a decrease of 4.03% and 3.07% along with GODREJ CONSUMER PRODUCTS LTD. and JAIPRAKASH ASSOCIATES LTD. with a decrease of 2.88% and 2.87% at the close of the markets. PM appeals to dedicate 100 hours to cleanliness, Politicos react

New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): Politicians reacted as Prime Minister Narendra Modi while chairing the first meeting of 'Mission Swacch Bharat', appealed to every citizen to dedicate 100 hours in a year towards cleanliness. BJP leader Sambit Patra while praising the PM for such a step said that if people can clean their houses in Diwali, why not the whole year. SP leader Naresh Agarwal praising Modi for his cleanliness drive said that such a step is always welcomed. NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that lectures won't do, PM will have to do some ground work, now when he has power to make change. Varanasi, Sep 10 (ANI): Blame game began on Wednesday as musical instrument, 'shehnai', of shehnai maestro and receipt of country's highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna', Ustad Bismillah Khan, went missing. According to the sons of the shehani maestro, the musical instrument went missing in 2009 and so far no report has been registered with the police. There has been a family dispute regarding Khan's property among his sons and nobody is aware about the things which the Ustad used to posses.
