BJP offers equal number of seats to Shiv Sena for polls in Maharashtra

Pune, Sep 15 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) offered equal number of seats to its key ally, Shiv Sena, for state polls in Maharashtra after nearly concluding seat-sharing talks with four smaller parties. Maharashtra goes to polls on October 15. The BJP and its ally are expected to get majority in 288-member house after 15 years of rule by Congress and its ally. However, the Shiv Sena that had contested large number of seats than BJP in the past is not comfortable with the proposal. Unnao/ Lucknow, Sep 14 (ANI): Bharatiya Janta Party MP Sakshi Maharaj on Sunday received flak over his controversial remark wherein he alleged that Madarsas give ‘education of terrorism’. He said that all educational institutions should be under government and under the same norms and that madarsas should not be given right to impart such education to the kids. Maharaj also alleged that no madarsas hoist Indian national flag on 15th August or 26th January. He also said that Muslim men try to convert Hindu girls and take his as a trade. Reacting on the same, Muslim Cleric Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali said that madrasas cultivate & spread message of love and peace. U-turn: NDA backs UPA's choice in Lokpal panel

New Delhi, Sep 13 (ANI): The government, on Saturday, defended Lokpal selection panel in the Supreme court which the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had opposed when it was in opposition. The BJP-led NDA government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court, defending the appointment of senior advocate PP Rao as the eminent jurist to the Lokapl panel. Earlier, the BJP had opposed Rao's nomination to the panel, calling him loyalist of Congress party. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said it was not a U-turn because affidavit was related to the process and not to a person. The opposition accused the BJP of following the Congress' policies on a host of issues, which it had traced during the parliament polls. Meanwhile, JD (U) said it exposed BJP's double standards.
