Sri Lanka to transfer five fishermen on death row to Indian prison

New Delhi/ Chennai, Nov 10 (ANI): BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, said on Monday (November 10) that five fishermen sentenced to death in Sri Lanka on the charge of drug trafficking will be transferred to an Indian jail. He said the fishermen, belonging to Tamil Nadu, will be transferred to India as per the agreement between the two countries, signed in year 2010. Five Indian fishermen were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy in 2011 on charges of smuggling drugs and on October 30, the Colombo High Court held the five fishermen guilty of drug trafficking. Meanwhile, Swamy said the deadlock was broken after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on the issue. The arrest of the Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan navy has been a major topic of debate between the two nations. The Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that India and Nigeria have undergone an agreement that Indians sentenced to imprisonment in Nigeria can complete their punishment in their own country and vice-versa. Telangana signs MoU on supply of 1,000 MW power with Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Nov 03 (ANI): Wishing to provide round-the-clock power supply in his state, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with his Chhattisgarh counterpart Raman Singh on Monday on supply of 1,000 MW of thermal power generated there on long-term basis. Rao was accompanied by state Finance Minister E Rajender, Principal Secretary S Narsing Rao and a few other officials. Telangana Chief Minister was welcomed by Chhattisgarh Transport Minister Rajesh Munat on his arrival in Raipur. The MoU between the two Chief Ministers will facilitate signing of a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) between Chhattisgarh Power Trading Corporation and TSGenco for a period of 7 or 12 years at a price to be fixed by the Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC).
