Police arrest Maoist commander in Ranchi

Ranchi, Oct 14 (ANI): In a special operation Jharkhand police arrested a Maoist commander who was part of more than fifty militant activities in the region. The police received information that two Maoist groups would be meeting near the Joomla hill area in Ranchi on October 11. An operation was launched by the police and the area was surrounded. He added that around 75 mines had been recovered in the area along with arms and ammunition. Canada foreign minister meets Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday and met his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj for a discussion on Canada-India relations to strengthen bilateral economic ties between the two countries. Baird also commemorated the International Day of the Girl Child at a school in the national capital. India and Canada were expected to discuss on the bilateral issues at the meeting, including matters related to security, defence, counter-terrorism, space and nuclear cooperation. Baird, who is on a five-day visit to India, is accompanied by Canadian International Trade Minister Ed Fast and National Revenue Minister Kerry-Lynne Findlay among others.
