Rani Mukerji inaugurates self defence workshop for school girls in Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 24 (ANI): Promoting her recently released film ___Mardaani___, Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji inaugurated a self-defence course for girls of all municipal schools in Mumbai. Mukerji plays the role of a tough police officer out to bust a child-trafficking ring, in the flick. It was launched by the State Commission for Women of Maharashtra, where a digital copy of a book called ___Know Your Rights___ was also launched. Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Rakesh Maria and other dignitaries also attended the programme that was held in Kavale Math Municipal School at Malabar Hill area in the city. The training of the self-defence skills will be a part of the school syllabus. It will be taught to girls twice a week. After south Mumbai, the programme will be followed across the state. Nagpur city launches eco friendly buses

Nagpur, Aug 22 (ANI): Union transport minister, Nitin Gadkari, launched two ethanol-run buses in Nagpur on Friday with the initiative of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation. Gadkari said the launch of eco friendly buses will encourage the concept of producing fuel out of alternative sources. Artificial limb center in Kanpur provides aid to injured in war torn areas

Kanpur, Aug 21 (ANI): Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) has earned goodwill for the country by providing artificial limbs to the land mine victims in Afghanistan and by setting up a limb fitting facility centre. ALIMCO, which is based in Kanpur, distributes aids and appliances to the disabled free of cost and at concessional rates. Recently, it provided a ray of hope to the survivors of war torn Afghanistan as it set camps in the country where experts took measurements of the disabled for their artificial limbs and also taught how to use them. Bangladesh PM alleges BNP founder involved in killing of father of the nation

Dhaka, Aug 17 (ANI): Bangladesh Prime Minister alleged that the founder of the opposition, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Ziaur Rahman was involved in the killing of the father of the nation, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with most of his family, 39 years ago. Mujibur, or Mujib as he was popularly called, was killed along with most of his family members on August 15, 1975 in a revolt by young army officers. One of his two surviving daughters, Sheikh Hasina, is now the country's prime minister. Addressing a gathering of the ruling Awami League party, Hasina said that the interview with Anthony Mascaren of British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has clearly stated facts about the assassination.
