Capital gears up to host National Children's Film Festival

Mumbai, Nov 9 (ANI): The Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) announced to launch the National Children's Film Festival (NCFF) in a bid to expose youngsters to global cinema. CFSI is an autonomous body under India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, founded in 1955, which has been working towards promoting children's films across the globe. The three-day festival will kick start on November 14 at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi, on the occasion of Children's Day celebrated to commemorate the birthday of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Films made in India or made by Indian filmmakers will be showcased in the festival. Kumar also said that another aim of this festival was to celebrate childhood through films. The theme for the inaugural edition of NCFF will be ‘Swachhta' (Cleanliness), falling in line with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (Clean India Mission) launched nationwide by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month. The festival will also see various other workshops to be held for children including those for film making, dance and music. Bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Sonakshi Sinha, Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan have come forward to promote the festival. Nov 9, 2014

Modi while speaking to mediapersons said that he has launched the cleanliness campaign in Varanasi. He added that the social organizations have assured him that the Assi ghat will be cleaned as soon as possible. He further nominated nine people to carry out ‘cleanlimess drive’ further. The list includes Raju Shrivastav, Manu Sharma, singer Kailash Kher, Padma Shri Devi Parsad Dwivedi, Swami Rambhadracharya, UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, Bhojpuri playback singer Manoj Tiwari, cricketer Mohd Kaif and Suresh Raina. Varanasi, Nov 08 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his second day of visit to Varanasi by offering prayers at the ' Assi ghat' of river Ganga, assisted by five priests who supported him in performing the 'Ganga Pujan'. He also swept the ghat to mark the beginning of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' from his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi. Several laborers joined him as he cleaned the ghat. Later in the day, he is scheduled to visit the Mata Anandamayee Hospital to take first hand stock of the functioning. Kamal Haasan takes up Modi's clean India challenge on 60th birthday

Chennai, Nov 7 (ANI): Veteran Actor Kamal Haasan, took up 'Clean India' mission on his 60th birthday on Friday, swept street and picked up garbage in Tamil Nadu. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the nationwide cleanliness mission on October 02 to raise awareness of cleanliness and better sanitation among its citizens under the banner of 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan', or Clean India Campaign. Haasan took up cleaning of Madhambakkam Lake in Chennai. Haasan participated in the movement along with the volunteers of a welfare club and volunteers of Environmentalist Foundation of India and his fans. New Delhi, Nov 06 (ANI): Clarifying on the controversy over his cleanliness drive, Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay on Thursday said that he totally condemns forging of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' and that it should be taken seriously and carried on honestly. He also said that he or any BJP leaders had no knowledge of the same and he went there as a participant. Upadhyay said that it was a program of the Islamic Centre and he was there for a few minutes only. He further condemned the incident saying it was a human error and should not be done in future. Rane said that the Gujarati community post obligatory remarks against Marathis on twitter and terms them as downtrodden and second-hand citizens. Reactions come in as Delhi HC slams MCD for running 'Dirty India Campaign'

New Delhi/ Kaushambi, Nov 06 (ANI): Reactions come from political leaders after Delhi High Court slammed Municipal Corporation of Delhi for unhygienic conditions in the national capital and made an observation that it was running a 'Ganda Bharat Abhiyan' or 'Dirty India Campaign'. While BJP said that government is committed to its 'Swachch Bharat Abhiyan’, Congress and AAP alleged that the ruling BJP is only doing a show off and the MCD under them has failed to perform on the ground. CPI leader D Raja also said that now that the HC has slammed the MCD, it needs to give a report on the same.
