China opens additional route to Kailash-Mansarovar in Tibet: MEA

Beijing, Feb 02 (ANI): China agreed to open an additional route to Hindu pilgrimage in Tibet through Nathu La pass, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin during Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj visit to Beijing. Akbaruddin said devotees could undertake more comfortable journey by vans and busses to Kailash-Mansarovar, where Lord Shiva is believed to be residing in perpetual meditation state along with his wife Parvati. Swaraj and her Chinese counterpart decided to set up a contact group to discuss the modalities of Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit to Beijing later this year. Swarajs trip comes just days after US President Barack Obama's unprecedented second visit to India that concluded with nuclear deal and defence co-operation between the two countries that evoked considerable concern from China. Security tightened at Siri Fort Auditorium as US President Obama all set to address gathering

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Security has been tightened outside Siri Fort Auditorium in Delhi as US President Barack Obama is set to end his three day India visit with a speech before a select gathering. Obama is to speak on future of the bilateral ties between America and India. Speaking on "India and America: The future we can build together", Obama will take questions from the audience of at least 2,000 people, including members of the strategic affairs community and students. During the programme, Obama is also expected to meet Noble laureate Kailash Satyarthi. The event is expected to start around 10:45 AM and likely to go on for 45 minutes. Meanwhile, Delhiites will have to face another day of incessant traffic jams, around south Delhi’s Siri Fort auditorium and the Ring Road around South Extension. Bear mauls man in Chhattisgarh's Surjapur

Surjapur, Jan 06 (ANI): A bear created havoc in a village in Chhattisgarh after it mauled a man. The man was attacked by the bear in the forest area of Surjapur district. The villagers shouted and tried to shoo away the animal but could not save the man. Reportedly, the man was an employee of Chhattisgarh Forest Department. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (wildlife), Kailash Chandra Bebarta said the bear had attacked many animals before and the villagers were living in fear. The man died on the spot. He was a part of the team that had gone to capture the bear but the team failed in their operation. Forest authorities later shot dead the animal. The victim's body has been sent for post-mortem. Varanasi, Dec 23 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded Singer Kailash Kher as he wielded broom in Varanasi as part of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'. Modi tweeted saying,"Bravo @kailashkher!I congratulate you for joining Swachh Bharat Mission in Varanasi. Admirable effort." Kher swept banks of River Ganges in Varanasi. Modi represents the 3,000-year-old riverside city of Varanasi and has taken personal responsibility for restoring Maa Ganga, or "Mother Ganges". Kher, best known for his soulful melodies and songs that have graced many a Bollywood chartbuster in the recent years, wielded a broom as part of cleanliness drive and urged others to join the mission.
